The Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Sports Society FOK "Zvezdy" was the hive of activity last weekend, hosting two exhilarating sporting events: the Kyokushin karate tournament "Youth of Russia" and the city championship in snowboarding.
Over 150 athletes of varying age groups, from the youngest at 8-9 years old, vibrantly filled the arena.
Winning a spot on the podium was no easy feat. Rivals battled it out, their determination evident in every strike. The combatants who fought their way to the top were showered with medals, certificates, and commemorative trophies.
Meanwhile, the city's ski slopes at the "Sinichkina" complex transformed into an adrenaline rush zone with the snowboard cross discipline of the city championship in full swing. Approximately 70 participants pushed their limits, their eyes set on the sets of awards up for grabs.
The cream of the crop received medals, trophies, and special prizes from event partners.
Looking beyond this weekend's events, recent Kyokushin karate tournaments have seen global participation. These tournaments feature various divisions, such as Knockdown, Semi-Contact, Open-Hand Kata, and Weapons Kata, with notables like Taylor Haug and Francois Presseault triumphing in their respective divisions[1]. Upcoming events in the world of Kyokushin karate include the much-anticipated Kyokushin World Cup for Men and Women in Kazan, Russia, set for October 31 to November 3, 2025[2].
