Snowboarder critically injured after collision with unidentified skier in Ifen

A 21-year-old German snowboarder was seriously injured in a collision with an unidentified skier on Sunday. The incident happened around noon on the red-run IF1 'Ifenmulde' near the Alpbord section in the Ifen ski region. Authorities are now asking for witnesses to come forward.

The snowboarder crashed into a female skier before falling himself. Initially, he reported no pain but was later found to have fractures in his lower lumbar vertebrae. He was airlifted to a hospital in Immenstadt for treatment.

The skier involved briefly stopped after the collision but then carried on down the slope. She is described as around 20 years old, with likely blonde hair, and was wearing a white-and-red ski suit, a white helmet, and blue Oakley ski goggles.

No similar accidents have been recorded in the Ifen ski area over the past five years, according to public documents.

Police are urging anyone who saw the incident to contact them. The snowboarder remains in hospital, while the skier has not yet been identified. Investigations into the collision are ongoing.
