Experience the chilly kick-off of the week in Saxony, where snowfall, sleet, and icy conditions reign supreme. As shared by the German Weather Service (DWD), the forthcoming days will remain dreary with mostly cloud-covered skies. Anticipate light rain or sleet in some areas on Monday, followed by widespread snowfall. By afternoon, sleet will prevail at lower elevations. Watch out for slippery surfaces, with temperatures hovering between 1°C and 4°C (33°F and 39°F) in the mountains and as low as -2°C to 1°C (28°F and 33°F) in lower areas.

As you move towards Tuesday night, brace yourself for further snowfall and icy conditions, with temperatures dipping as low as -5°C (23°F) at higher altitudes.

A closer look at the anticipated weather conditions across various Saxon locations reveals trends. Annaberg-Buchholz, Dresden, and Leipzig are all predicted to experience light snow and overcast skies, with temperatures ranging between 17°F and 43°F (-8°C to 6°C). Meanwhile, the Harz region anticipates light snow showers and sub-zero temperatures, with an expected 1cm of fresh snowfall in the next 48 hours.

German weather forecasts and warnings are being continually updated, with ice alerts issued for northern Germany, including Berlin, Brandenburg, and Saxony. As public service strikes uphold ungritted pavements and roads, icy conditions persist, encouraging extra caution despite the snowfall.
