Snooker Masters tournament in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia commences, offering thrilling competitions in 2025

The 2025 Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters commenced on Friday, August 8, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, marking a significant event in the snooker world. The tournament, held at the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Sports City Hall, featured the game's elite stars, including Judd Trump, Kyren Wilson, Mark Williams, John Higgins, and Ronnie O'Sullivan.

Eleven Saudi players were also participating in the preliminary round of the tournament, confirming the Kingdom's commitment to supporting and developing Saudi talent in snooker. The names of these players included Abdullah Al-Shammari, Ahmed Asiri, Abdulraouf Al-Sayegh, Omar Al-Ajlani, Musab Al-Sayegh, Musaed Al-Masfar, Ziad Al-Qabbani, Fahad Al-Ghamdi, Saud Al-Bakr, Ayman Al-Omari, and Abdullah Al-Attiyan.

The event was organized by the Saudi Billiards and Snooker Federation in partnership with the Ministry of Sports, Matchroom, and the World Snooker Tour. The World Snooker Tour was cooperating with the event, making it one of the key ranking events in the 2025–26 snooker season, with a total prize fund of £2,302,000 and a winner's share of £500,000.

The preliminary qualifying round continued until next Monday, Aug. 11. Notable performances during this phase included Hisham Shawky, the 2025 Arab champion, securing victory in the initial match and advancing to the next round of the tournament.

As the tournament progressed, several exciting matches unfolded. On August 15, Ronnie O'Sullivan made history by making two maximum 147 breaks in his semi-final match against Chris Wakelin. This achievement made him the first player to make two maximums in a one-session match or on the same day. He also became the oldest player (age 49 years, 253 days) to record an official maximum break.

Unfortunately, Judd Trump, the defending champion, was eliminated earlier on August 11 after losing 3–5 to Oliver Lines in the fifth round (last 32). The semi-finals included Ronnie O’Sullivan vs. Chris Wakelin, with O’Sullivan winning 6–3, and Neil Robertson vs. Elliot Slessor, with Robertson winning 6–3 on August 15.

One notable comeback was Ronnie O’Sullivan overcoming a 5–2 deficit to beat Chang Bingyu 6–5. Julien Leclercq also advanced with a 4–1 win over Dikme in the second round.

The tournament final and full match schedule ran through August 16, but specific final results beyond August 15 are not provided in the search data. For the most current match-by-match results beyond August 11, including final outcomes, live score tracking via sources such as snooker.org or the official World Snooker Tour website is recommended.
