SNL's Tina Fey & Amy Poehler Roast Kristi Noem & Pam Bondi in Political Sketch

Saturday Night Live (SNL) made headlines this week with a cold open that tackled a range of political topics, from ICE and American troops in U.S. cities to the indictment of ex-FBI director James Comey and the government shutdown. The sketch, which featured a reunion of Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, also took aim at former South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem and Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi.

The sketch began with a reference to Noem's memoir, 'Governor Noem: From My Plains Roots to the White House,' and joked about her past consideration for the vice presidency. Fey's character, playing Noem, quipped about being a brunette that Donald Trump listens to, a reference to Trump's past comments about preferring blondes.

Bondi, played by Poehler, reacted to the sketch on X, suggesting a recreation in Chicago. Noem, however, blamed the politicos for the government shutdown, stating, 'The politicos are the ones who shut down the government, not me.' Despite the political jabs, the sketch was praised for its humor and the reunion of Poehler and Fey.

The SNL sketch sparked conversation and reactions from both Noem and Bondi. While Noem shifted the blame for the government shutdown, the sketch's humor and the reunion of Poehler and Fey were the main talking points among viewers. The current political situation in South Dakota, where Noem previously served as governor, was not addressed in the sketch.
