Montreal's got a summery vibe going on, but hang on to those scarves just a bit longer. A chill is on the way this Saturday, before giving way to sunshine on Sunday.

According to Fannie Arcand, the thermometers showed 22°C in the metropolitan area on Friday evening, a good seven degrees above the average. As Marie-Lou Payette, the meteorologist at Environment Canada, explains, it's all thanks to a sunny day and a warm air mass from the U.S. heartland.

But don't get too comfortable. The temperatures will drop back to standard levels on Saturday, with a cold front sending the mercury plunging to 14 or 15°C.

This little cold snap won't last long—Montrealers can look forward to a high of 21°C on Sunday, with a mix of sun and clouds. Friday's warm weather isn't limited to Montreal, either. Estrie and the Outaouais valley will see temperatures approaching typical averages by Saturday, with a high of 13°C expected. A system from New England will bring some light showers in the afternoon, but the sun will be back by Sunday, accompanied by temperatures of up to 17°C.

Quebec will experience a bit of fog and clouds on Friday, but the weather will clear up over the weekend, with a high of 12°C expected on Saturday, and temperatures reaching 18°C on Sunday.
