Jump on board, creatives!

It's not just painters and sculptors who can get a piece of the action. Every artistic discipline, plus intercultural work, can participate in shaping the visual landscape of a city. Imagine that, providing a vision for cities through events and exhibitions!

For the 2018 theme "Pictures of Your City," a whopping €200,000 was up for grabs, targeting projects across all creative genres. Artists could submit their ideas until November the previous year. On March 1, 2018, the cultural committee made funding decisions for an impressive 39 projects over fields like visual and performing arts, film, literature, music, and event management. Get ready for some awe-inspiring projects ranging from an interactive socio-culturally-focused city map to a mammoth painting aiming for the Guinness Book of Records, not to mention theater on the Krämerbrücke and various community events scattered throughout the year.

Once the funding was announced, all successful projects gathered together for a kick-off event. It was a chance to mingle, network, share ideas, thrash out queries, and discuss joint marketing strategies.

You can follow the journey of these projects on culture bulletin boards or online. If you're eager to join in, hop on Instagram and check out the ErfurtKultur channel. Get inspired, informed, and don't hesitate to share your own highlights—tag them with #PicturesOfYourCity and #CultureYearEF.
