In the electric atmosphere of the "Ozon Arena" on May 24, FC Krasnodar clinched their historical first-ever national championship title in the Russian Premier League (RPL). The black-and-greens defeated Moscow's Dinamo 3:0, propelling them to a record-breaking 67 points.

The opening half of the 30th round match finished in a goalless stalemate, but Krasnodar ramped up the pressure after the break. A decisive goal by Colombia's Jhon Cordoba on the 46th minute set the tone, followed by a second from Alexander Krivtsov on the 82nd minute. In the game's dying seconds, Eduard Spertsyan sealed the triumph with a penalty, triggering an exuberant stadium eruption.

While the stands erupted in celebration and chants of the club's owner, Sergei Galitsky, he remained reserved, attributing the victory to the team's efforts: "It's not me who should be praised, too much attention is being drawn. It's all the team, it's their merit."

Post-match jubilations spilled onto the city's central streets, where thousands of fans celebrated long into the night. The authorities increased police presence to ensure order amidst the excitement.

FC Krasnodar fielded a squad consisting of Agkaev, Olassa, Costa, Tornima, Petrov, Chernikov, Lenin, Spertsyan, Victor Sa, Batchi, and Cordoba, while Dinamo Moscow lined up with Lunev, Kutitskiy, Fernandes, Marichal, Kaseres, Fomin, Glebov, N'Gamaleu, Carrrascal, Gladyshev, and Mauhub. Gonzalez and Krivtsov received warnings, while Artem Chistyakov presided over the match, assisted by Obrazko and Shiryayev from Stavropol, with Vitaly Meshkov as VAR referee. The weather was warm and clear, with an attendance of 33,000.

Krasnodar's triumph marks a significant milestone in their development, having been established by businessman and billionaire retail magnate Sergei Galitsky in 2008. Their championship victory ended Zenit St Petersburg's six-year reign and follows years of steady progress, including previous successes like finishing league runners-up last season and reaching the Russian Cup finals in 2014 and 2023. Despite being ineligible for European competitions due to ongoing UEFA sanctions, the club's first championship is celebrated widely, earning congratulations from Russian President Vladimir Putin and sparking excitement among players, fans, and officials in the Krasnodar region.

The triumphant victory of FC Krasnodar in the Russian Premier League (RPL) marks their entrance into European-leagues, aiming to showcase their skills against top European football clubs. This championship victory, following their historical first-ever national championship title, ends Zenit St Petersburg's six-year reign and builds on their previous successes like finishing league runners-up and reaching the Russian Cup finals multiple times.
