Passenger on a boat coming from the city of Baybay, Leyte, got busted carrying a packet of crystal meth (shabu) hidden in a metal box at 6:11 AM, on a Friday, May 2, 2025, at Pier 3 in the city of Cebu.

The suspect, known as Alyas Bee, aged 22, was a driver from Barangay Kan-ipa, City of Baybay, Leyte.

The PDEA 7 Seaport Interdiction Unit, Cebu City Maritime Police Station, Philippine Coast Guard, and Cebu Port Authority seized a metal box containing a packet of 5 grams of shabu worth around P34,000, two tin foils, and paraphernalia used for cooking shabu.

The first discovery of the contraband was made by the vessel steward of the boat that docked at the pier.

Upon examining the box, the steward noticed suspicious-looking substances, which he reported and turned over to the Philippine Coast Guard personnel.

The CCTV camera recorded the suspect handling the metal box and picking it up from the cargo, only to replace it once he got off the vessel and settled down in his cabin.

The suspect claimed he found the box and decided to visit Cebu to see a pig farm in his aunt's city in Dumanjug.

The seized evidence was sent to the PDEA-7 Regional Office Laboratory for chemical analysis.

The charges filed against the suspect are based on Section 5 (transportation) and 12, Article II of Republic Act 9165.
