Sunday's a slippery ride in Berlin and Brandenburg, courtesy of icy roads. Frost and slippery conditions persist until the morning, and it freezes again in the afternoon, according to Germany's weather service. Temperatures max out at zero to two degrees.

On Monday night, some areas will stay icy, with western Brandenburg even experiencing sleet or snowfall. The mercury drops to zero to minus four degrees. The north-east of Brandenburg, however, remains dry locally. Temperatures remain at zero to two degrees.

Tuesday night brings more snow, particularly in southern Brandenburg, with some areas continuing to have snow on the ground. The weather service warns of icy conditions. Temperatures dip to zero to minus three degrees. The snow showers continue here and there on Tuesday, but the afternoon and evening remain dry. Temperatures hover between minus one and plus one degree.

Despite the icy roads on Sunday, the weather service predicts more snow at the beginning of the week, mainly in western Brandenburg and southern Brandenburg on Monday and Tuesday nights. Drivers should be on their guard due to the risk of icy conditions throughout this period.

German drivers face an icy week, with snowfall and slick roads. The Deutsche Wetterdienst issued warnings for icy road conditions throughout the region. Roads can be treacherous, causing hazards for both drivers and pedestrians. Temperatures drop to -5 to -15 degrees at night, with a daytime high of around 3 to 4 degrees. Feels-like temperatures could dip to -10 to -15 degrees, making conditions even colder.

Up to 6 centimeters of new snow is expected by Friday, adding to the existing icy conditions. The chance of precipitation is high, especially on Thursday night, with forecasts indicating 3 to 6 centimeters of snow accumulation. The DWD warned of the acute risk of icy surfaces, particularly from Freiburg to Saxony, and in Berlin and Brandenburg. The risk persists as temperatures fluctuate around the freezing mark.

Public bus services in Potsdam were briefly halted on Thursday evening due to icy conditions, highlighting the impact on transport safety. Some relief is expected by the weekend. A high-pressure system is forecast to bring drier, calmer weather, albeit with cold temperatures. The transition may also mark the start of winter's retreat.

Residents are advised to stay cautious and equipped for potential icy surfaces. Local authorities are managing winter service needs, but drivers should remain diligent when commuting.
