In a heartbreaking loss, Yuriy "Povodyr" Maievsky, a 36-year-old fighter, met his untimely end near Vodyane village, Donetsk Oblast. The grim incident occurred during enemy artillery bombardment while he was undertaking his duty.

Born and bred in Khmelnytskyi, Yuriy walked the halls of School No. 18. His zeal for personal growth and national pride led him to become a member of "Plast," a nurturing ground for conscious individuals contributing to their own development and to Ukraine. Following his academic journey, Yuriy earned degrees in Accounting and Audit and Chemical and Environmental Control at Khmelnytskyi National University. He honed his skills as a chemical engineer, proving to be a top-notch professional in the field. his career saw him working at "Ekotest" LLC since 2008, with a stint as the head of purification facilities at "PROTEIN INVEST" LLC from 2019. In his leisure time, he relished reading historical books.

From the get-go of the full-scale invasion, Yuriy, who had no military experience, took a stand to protect his homeland. He initially served in the volunteer formation "Avangard." Later, in August 2022, he enlisted in the Ukrainian Armed Forces, becoming a fighter in the 53rd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Volodymyr Monomakh.

As shared by Nataliya Maievskaya, Yuriy was a hero, soldier, husband, father, and friend par excellence. Adored for his bravery, kindness, and integrity, his comrades fondly called him "mom" for his nurturing nature.

Yuriy was laid to rest at the Alley of Glory in Rakove district of his hometown. Left at home were his wife and their 4-year-old son, who awaited his return.

Although extensive online searches did not yield detailed biographical or military service information about Yuriy, with the limited data available, he appears to be an ordinary citizen who chose an extraordinary path—to defend his homeland. However, obtaining comprehensive information might require accessing Ukrainian military records, official biographies, or direct sources connected to his career.
