Slain Ukrainian Hero: Yuriy Kryvoblotskyy
September 6, 2022
Meet Yuriy Kryvoblotskyy, the 28-year-old hero who left us too soon. Dubbed Karas, this Kherson Oblast villager became prey to enemy shelling on September 6, taking fatal shrapnel wounds while on duty.
Hailing from Kompaniivka in Kirovohrad Oblast, young Yuriy studied at his town's primary and secondary school before graduating from the Veterinary Medicine department of BNAU's Kompaniivka Vocational College. A lover of nature and furry friends, Yuriy found solace in working at the agricultural cooperative "Kolos".
With the onset of the full-scale invasion, Yuriy joined the fray, enlisting in Ukraine's Armed Forces. He served with the 57th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade, known as Koshovy Otaman Kostya Hordiienko's unit. Held in high regard as a senior scout in his reconnaissance unit, Yuriy's role was to gather intel on the enemy's movements.
Liliya Horlova, Yuriy's aunt, recalls, "Yura was always seeking comfort in our family. Losing his mom at a young age, he turned to us for kindness and advice. He was a kind-hearted, obedient lad, a wonderful son, nephew, and grandson. From the get-go of the full-scale invasion, he chose to protect our homeland. Yurko, embodying the spirit of a true soldier, a caring son, a devoted brother, and an exceptional nephew, would call home every evening. However, having just a brief chat was usual. 'Everything's good, don't worry, there might not be communication,' he always said."
Buried in his birthplace, Yuriy leaves behind his father, aunt, sister, and two daughters.
As a defender of Ukraine, Yuriy Kryvoblotskyy's bravery and dedication stand as a testament to the human spirit, demonstrating resilience amid adversity during these challenging times.
