Slain Ukrainian Hero: Vladyslav Shein

The combat mission near Novoselivske in Luhansk Oblast took a tragic turn for Ukrainian soldier, Vladyslav Shein, aka Typhoon. This badass defender met his end on the front, holding the line against occupying forces launching an attack. The enemy breached the defense, and during a tank shelling, our man, Vlad, was up front, saving the lives of four mates, but ultimately paying the ultimate price.
Born and raised in Dnipro, Vladyslav was destined for greatness. A law student at Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University in Kharkiv, he completed military training, and back in his hometown, he was a judo-smashing athlete, nabbing awards in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast and national tournaments since the tender age of 6.
When the full-scale war erupted on March 3, 2022, Vladyslav, as a 21-year old, enthusiastically stepped up to defend his land. He joined the 128th Territorial Defense Brigade under the Ukrainian Armed Forces, serving as a rifleman in the 233rd Separate Battalion. Initially stationed in Lozova, Kharkiv Oblast, they later moved to the Zaporizhzhia front.
Vlad, described by his dad as intelligent and confident with a heart of gold, had a supportive girlfriend, Sofia, and dreams of a wedding and a future as a prosecutor. Sadly, fate had other plans for this brave lad.
Vladyslav's military heroism was recognized posthumously with the Order of Courage, 3rd Class. Buried in the village of Slobodzhanke, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Vladyslav left behind his family, friends, and comrades.
A year after his passing, as the nation mourns, a memorial plaque was unveiled at Gymnasium No. 29 in Dnipro, where Vladyslav once studied, immortalizing this fallen hero.
