Vitaliy Klymchuk, affectionately known as Vitalik, trembled the earth on June 19, 2022, near the village of Bilohirʼya in Zaporizhzhia region. In the chaos of enemy shelling, he sustained fatal injuries while defending his homeland—a valiant soul lost in his 42nd year.
Born and raised in the village of Stadnytsia, Vinnytsia region, Vitalik had a knack for mathematics, immersing himself in his studies at the local primary and secondary school. After his educational ventures, he honed his skills as a stonemason and electric welder at Vinnytsia Higher Art and Technical College No. 5. His military journey commenced with mandatory service in 1998. Following his return from the army, he relocated from Vinnytsia to Kyiv, residing there for 12 years before returning to his roots. He spent time working at the "Na Yaru" recreation base, later venturing into construction. From 2014 to 2016, he boldy faced adversity as a fighter in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) in the Volnovakha and Luhansk region. After stints in Poland, he finally arrived home to face the full-scale invasion head-on.
In March 2022, Vitalik made the selfless decision to rejoin the military, becoming the commander of a combat vehicle in a reactive artillery battery of military unit A7022.
"A beacon of fairness, cheer, and honesty, Vitalik was held in high esteem and deep affection by his peers and relatives," said Maria Dorosh, his loving niece. "His boundless wisdom and unwavering support will forever remain an integral part of our lives."
Vitaliy was laid to rest in his birthplace.
