Slain Ukrainian Hero, Andriy Levchenko

February 1, 2023 marked the tragic loss of Senior Sergeant Andriy Levchenko, alias Lisnyk, in a fierce battle against occupiers near the town of Vuhledar, Donetsk Oblast. The hero fell victim to enemy mortar fire at the ripe age of 46.
Hailed from the rural village of Cherevky, Poltava Oblast, Andriy honed his skills as a forestry technician at Lubensky Forestry College. He built a life with his family in Boryspil, Kyiv Oblast, working as an assembler at LLC "Silpo-Food." In his spare time, he nurtured a passion for the history of Ukrainian Cossacks, with fishing and mushroom hunting being his favorite pastimes.
With unwavering courage, Andriy enlisted in the Armed Forces of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, following Russia's invasion. Serving in the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the Black Zaporozhians, he played a pivotal role in liberating Kyiv and its surrounding regions from the occupiers. In May 2022, he was deployed to Donbas, where he protected his homeland in various Donetsk Oblast settlements. From November 2022, he took on the responsibilities of a platoon commander within the assault group of the 4th company.
Andriy was more than just a soldier, a true embodiment of Cossack spirit. His family recalls his devotion to Ukrainian history and folklore, describing him as a man of strength, bravery, intelligence, and deep responsibility. He leaves behind his heartbroken parents, wife, and three daughters, Daria, Anya, and Sofia.
"Brother, comrade, friend - he was everything to us. Reliable, unwavering, a true man, a warrior, a Cossack," his fellow soldiers shared.
Andriy received his final resting place in the town of Novoorzhytske, Poltava Oblast.
