Slain Ukrainian Hero: Alexander Karpov
September 13, 2023
Say goodbye to Senior Soldier Alexander "Karp," a 24-year-old hero, who met his untimely end in a combat mission near Andriivka, Bakhmut district, Donetsk region. The tragic event unfolded amidst an artillery barrage. Despite sustaining injuries, Karp courageously performed first aid on himself and his comrade. However, it was all in vain; the brutal wounds took his life.
Born and raised in the bustling city of Tokmak, Zaporizhzhia region, Karp grew up with a zest for life and a thirst for creativity. After completing his education at the Multidisciplinary Vocational Center, he embarked on a culinary journey, working as a cook at the "Alaska" café in his hometown. Later, he switched gears to become a loader at a sewing factory. Karp was fascinated by the mystical worlds of fantasy literature and the unexplained realms that harbored magic. Aside from his passion for literature, Karp delighted his loved ones with his culinary skills and artistic flair. His unrelenting spirit, keen focus, and willingness to embrace new endeavors made him an asset wherever he went. He even had a knack for drawing and penning verses. Despite the challenges life presented, he dreamt of having a house, a place of his own amidst the chaos of the world. Regrettably, that dream was claimed by war.
Upon the invasion of the occupiers, Karp donned his military uniform and fought for his beloved country as part of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In the years to come, his ambition was to further his military career.
Victoria, his grieving wife, said, "He was a genuine soul and an amazing person. My family and I adored him. His death leaves an irreplaceable void in our lives. We shared so many dreams; life without him feels empty now. I am forever grateful for his presence in my life, for the memories we created, and for the love we shared."
Karp's service and sacrifice received due recognition. The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine honored him posthumously with the "Golden Cross" medal. Karp's final resting place lies at the "Zahreblya" cemetery in Smila city, Cherkasy region.
Left to carry on in his absence are his loving mother, wife, family, comrades, and friends.
