Srinagar Shooting: Assam Minister Extends Condolences, Offers Aid to Family

Slain Kashmiri Pony-Handler's Family Encounters Assam Minister Atul Bora

In a heart-touching move, Assam's Agriculture, Horticulture, and Excise Minister, Atul Bora, recently paid a visit to the bereaved family of Adil Hussain Shah, a Kashmiri horse-handler tragically slain in the Pahalgam nightmare. The visit was to offer the Assam government's heartfelt condolences on behalf of its citizens.

Like a caring brother, Bora presented the family with a cheque of Rs 5 lakhs, a token relief extended by the Assam government during these trying times. The gesture was, as Bora stated, an expression of respect for the families of the 26 souls lost in the dreadful April 22 terror attack[1].

Later, while engaging with reporters, Bora shared that he held a meeting with J&K's Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, advocating for justice for Adil's bereaved family. Regretting his inability to meet J&K's Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, who was away in London visiting his ailing mother, Mollie Abdullah, Bora expressed his fervent desire to extend his condolences[2].

Nearing the end of his official tour in Srinagar, Bora echoed that the government and people of Assam remain steadfast in their resolve to extend aid and support to Kashmiris wherever possible. The Pahalgam attack was roundly denounced globally, and Bora underscored the importance of unity, "We are all one in this fight, and we must stand together in our quest for peace"[3].

In a poignant post on his 'X' handle, Bora shared images from his visit to Adil's home and the Raj Bhawan, expressing his solidarity with the families of the Pahalgam victims. The post reiterated the Assam government's commitmentto providing aid and support for those affected by this heinous act of terror[5].
