Skyscraper iconic landmark, Burj Khalifa, to exhibit Pakistani and Indian flags in honor of Independence Day celebrations.
In a grand display of cultural inclusivity and friendship, the flags of Pakistan and India were illuminated on the Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building, on their respective Independence Days. This spectacle marked the national independence of both countries and highlighted the strong ties they share with the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
On August 14, the Pakistani flag was proudly displayed, commemorating Pakistan's Independence Day. This year, the illumination celebrated Pakistan's 79th Independence Day, symbolising unity, peace, and the enduring friendship between Pakistan and the UAE. The UAE hosts over 1.8 million Pakistani expatriates, making them a significant part of the country's population.
Similarly, on August 15, the Indian flag was lit up, celebrating India's Independence Day and honouring the large Indian community in the UAE (over 4.3 million Indians). This display served as a vibrant cultural tribute and highlighted the strong UAE-India ties.
These flag displays at Burj Khalifa underscore the UAE's commitment to respecting and celebrating its diverse resident communities. The lighting of these flags on the world's tallest building marks these national days with a spectacular and public celebration of heritage and friendship.
Hussain Muhammad, Consul General of Pakistan in Dubai, warmly welcomed the community members and extended heartfelt congratulations on Pakistan's Independence Day. In his speech, he commended the contributions of the Pakistani community to the prosperity of the UAE and urged them to continue playing a constructive role in the development of both the UAE and Pakistan.
Pakistani missions in Dubai and Abu Dhabi also held flag-hoisting ceremonies on Independence Day. The ambassador, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, emphasised Unity, Faith, and Discipline as the foundation for Pakistan's progress.
