In a heart-wrenching incident, a thrill-seeker from the French Alps met his untimely demise during a wingsuit jump from a staggering 3,450-meter peak. The grim discovery was made at the base of the Pointe Trifide in La Grave, as announced by the local public prosecutor's office in a statement released to France 3 and "Le Dauphiné Libéré", (1) (2).
The 32-year-old victim was a local mountain guide travelling with a fellow athlete. Unfortunately, while both leaped together off the majestic cliff, only one managed to survive the descent. The lone survivor safely touched down in the valley below, while their companion met a tragic fate at the base of Trifide, as revealed by the mayor of La Grave, Jean-Pierre Pic (1).
Mountain police have launched an investigation to understand the factors that led to this unfortunate accident (1).
