Streamlining Bureaucracy with Hendrik Wüst: Delegating Powers for a Leaner, Modernized State

Attempting to surrender responsibilities: Proposed bureaucratic reduction involves relinquishing duties for efficiency - Skills to be dispersed aiming to minimize bureaucratic barriers: Wüst

Get ready for a leaner, more efficient German bureaucracy, thanks to Hendrik Wüst, North Rhine-Westphalia's Minister-President. Wüst is all about shedding unnecessary red tape—particularly in the business world—and he's prepared to give up some power to make it happen.

At the Entrepreneur Day NRW, Wüst expressed a positive attitude towards reform proposals from former federal ministers Peer Steinbrück (SPD) and Thomas de Maizière (CDU). These proposals call for a swift overhaul of the state and administrative systems. Wüst told the crowd, "I'm ready to delegate competencies. I'm willing to let go of power and responsibilities to perform tasks more effectively."

Wüst emphasized the need for all state levels to be open to delegating competencies to where tasks can be best accomplished. "It requires a willingness to relinquish processes and responsibilities, to give up power," he said. "We must all commit to a single goal: to digitize and modernize our free and democratic state."

In the new federal government formed by Union and SPD, a dedicated Digital Ministry responsible for state modernization will be established, with the manager Karsten Wildberger set to head the department. Wildberger previously led the electronics chain MediaMarkt-Saturn on a successful digital transformation.

Wüst cheered on Wildberger and the new federal government at the event, asking for support as they tackle this important topic.
