Embark on Winter Wonders at the Zugspitze

Begin your winter adventure today on the Zugspitze! Winter festivities kick off on Germany's highest mountain, after an early start for some Black Forest slopes and Söllereck in Allgäu. The recent heavy snowfall has shuffled the order of the season's commencement.

Ski enthusiasts may notice a slight increase in their wallets as they hit the slopes. Depending on the specific resort, you can expect to spend between 3.9% to 10% more on a day pass compared to the previous season. Prices in the Zugspitze and Garmisch Classic area, which opens in mid-December, will cost you 62 euros (an increase of 5 euros from last year). Similarly, Austrian resorts will also see a hike in prices, up to 10%.

Yet, the excitement seems unwavering. "Season ticket sales are going steadily," shares Antonia Asenstorfer, Alpen Plus ski resorts Managing Director and AGDOL board member. After two COVID-affected years and an energy crisis-dominated winter, many are eager for a return to normalcy. Verena Tanzer, spokeswoman for the Bayerische Zugspitzbahn, shares her optimism: "It feels like a regular winter for the first time."
