Sizzling Summer Weekend Ahead: Anticipate a Heat Wave Reaching 30 Degrees
Germany Experiences Significant Weather Shift After Heatwave
After a prolonged heatwave that has seen temperatures soar to as high as 40 degrees Celsius, the German Weather Service (DWD) predicts a notable change in weather conditions. According to their forecast, thunderstorms are expected to arrive later in the week, providing much-needed relief from the intense heat.
During the heatwave, temperatures across Germany have ranged from 30 to 38 degrees Celsius, with the highest temperatures in southern and central regions. However, from Friday onward, there is an increased chance of widespread thunderstorms, which should help break the hot spell.
By Saturday, temperatures are expected to cool down to the mid-20s Celsius nationwide, marking a clear weather shift from the preceding hot days. In the far north, it is likely to remain largely below the 30-degree mark. On Saturday, it is mainly sunny in the south, and the rest of the country sees plenty of sunshine, although some clouds may appear.
A cold front is predicted to move in on Sunday, replacing the hot air with noticeably cooler marine air in many parts of the country. It is cooler along the coast, with temperatures ranging from 21 to 25 degrees Celsius. On Sunday, the peak temperatures will not exceed 30 degrees Celsius in the south, and in the north, temperatures will not exceed 25 degrees Celsius.
Tobias Reinartz, a meteorologist from the weather service, expects a significant drop in temperature on Sunday. Current forecasts suggest more rain and lower temperatures again in the second half of the week. The German Weather Service (DWD) expects the peak of the next heatwave to occur in the coming week.
German authorities have been urging precautions during the heat, but the cooler and less extreme weather should improve conditions post-heatwave. The peak of the heatwave is expected towards the middle of next week, according to the DWD.
