On a sunny day in Neugrabener heath, the 6th edition of the South Elbe Cross, organized by Hausbruch-Neugrabener Turnerschaft (HNT), took place. The event, which featured a hilly terrain that went up and down constantly, saw a record-breaking participation of 245 finishers, double the numbers from the previous year.

The weather during the event was perfect, with plenty of sunshine and hardly any wind, making it an ideal day for running. The participants were accompanied by the sun throughout the day as they lapped through the Neugrabener heath.

Daniel Neidhold, head of the HNT athletes department, spoke about the event being top-organized. He expressed his satisfaction with the high number of runners at the start, stating that the event brought smiles to faces.

In the U18 category, Emil Keppler from Buxtehuder SV won the Hamburg champion title with a time of 20:45 minutes. Jonas Richter from Hamburger SV clinched the Hamburg champion title in the male youth U20 category with a time of 20:00 minutes. Max Schröder from Hamburg Running won the Hamburg champion title in the 5.3-kilometer middle distance with a time of 17:30 minutes.

Olof Simann from Turnerbund Hamburg Eilbeck ran the long distance of the 6th South Elbe Cross in 36:17 minutes, setting a new course record and securing the Hamburg champion title over 10.8 km. In the women's category, Julia Franke from LT Haspa Marathon Hamburg won the women's Hamburg champion title with a time of 20:36 minutes. Sandra Meyer-Lindloff finished sixth among women and had the best HNT result with a time of 25:13 minutes.

The event set a new course record, with the participants pushing themselves to their limits. Registration and further information for the next HNT events can be found at http://www.hntonline.de/events. The next running events organized by HNT are the Hamburg Half Marathon through the Old Country on April 21, 2024, and the Rosengartenlauf & RUHM on August 25, 2024.

With the success of the 6th South Elbe Cross, it is clear that the running community in Neugrabener heath is growing stronger, and the events organized by HNT continue to attract runners from across the region.
