Sixteen Hellgate high school athletes commit to furthering their athletic pursuits at the collegiate level.

Hellgate High School Athletes Shine in College Commitments

Several standout athletes from Hellgate High School in Missoula, Montana, have announced their college commitments for the 2024 season. These athletes have excelled in various sports, showcasing their skills and dedication on the field and in the classroom.

In basketball, Chloe Larson, the team's guard, tallied an impressive 843 career points, 202 rebounds, 70 assists, and 82 steals. Larson earned multiple awards for her stellar performance.

The swimming pool was where Michael Schermerhorn made a splash. At the 2024 State swimming meet, he recorded a time of 2:07.18, securing a spot in the NCAA DIII Northwest Conference.

Jillian Fontaine, a cheerleader, will be continuing her athletic career at Missouri Valley College, an NAIA school in Marshall, Missouri.

In Cross Country and Track, Sophia Miller will attend Montana State University, while Stella Diaz will head to Boise State University. Audrey Baldwin will join Chapman University, and Alix Mund will attend Boise State University in Track and Field.

Wilson Derry, a Cross Country athlete, will take a gap year before attending Colorado College.

On the soccer field, Chloe Anderson, a senior midfielder, assisted Elly Reed in the final seconds of the 2023 AA semifinal game, sending the Knights to their first state championship appearance. Jaden Lumpkin, a senior defender, received back-to-back AA All-Conference honors in 2022-2023. Riley Lumpkin, a forward, scored 11 goals on five assists in her final year and will attend a competitive Northwest school with her sister.

Carmen Anderson, a soccer player, and Kaitlyn Skinner, a Cross Country athlete, have also committed to Central Washington University and Montana State University, respectively.

It's worth noting that one other athlete, in addition to Anna Stensrud, will sign with the University of Montana's golf team for the 2024 class. However, specific details about the other athletes in golf, swimming, baseball, or cheerleading are not currently available.

The Hellgate cross country team finished third at the state level in 2024 under coach Anders Brooker, whose departure led to seniors stepping up to continue the program. Miles Colescott, a senior from Missoula, Montana, will be running for Haverford College.
