A staircase collapsed during a rescue operation in Oppenweiler, northeast of Stuttgart, leaving six people injured. The incident took place around 10:00 AM in the Rems-Murr district. Three of those hurt suffered serious injuries.

The collapse occurred as firefighters and a German Red Cross worker attempted to assist a resident. Those injured included four firefighters, the Red Cross worker, and the homeowner they were helping. Emergency services, including a rescue helicopter, quickly arrived at the scene.

The cause of the staircase failure remains unclear. Authorities from the Rems-Murr district council are now investigating the technical and structural details. Despite the collapse, the building itself has been deemed stable and is not at risk of further failure.
