Six gaming companies have expressed interest in establishing casinos in Thailand, as outlined by the country's Prime Minister.

The Thai government is moving at an incredible pace to legalize integrated resorts, aiming to bolster the country's tourism sector and generate additional revenue streams. Six international operators, including Melco Resorts, MGM Resorts, Genting Malaysia, Las Vegas Sands, Wynn Resorts, and Galaxy Entertainment, have shown interest in bidding for a license in Thailand.

The new integrated resorts are projected to lead to a significant spike in tourism revenue and create thousands of jobs. These resorts would offer thousands of rooms and multiple leisure and entertainment options beyond gaming, such as theaters, exhibition areas, shopping districts, theme parks, and premium dining options.

Melco Resorts has expressed interest in operating an integrated resort in Thailand, while MGM Resorts has shown interest in both the UAE and Thailand. Wynn Resorts has closely followed the latest developments in Thailand. Melco recently predicted that the third season of HBO's The White Lotus series would inspire more people to visit Asia, which could potentially influence tourism in Thailand as well.

However, hopes for new casino-resorts in Thailand have significantly diminished following the election of the new Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul. As of now, there is no publicly confirmed information about specific international companies expressing interest in obtaining a license for an integrated casino resort in Thailand.

Despite this, the draft rules for online gaming in Thailand should be ready within a few weeks, with the legislative efforts considering legal crypto gaming, in line with the latest developments in the sector. This move towards online gambling is another step towards enhancing the local economy.

The legalization of integrated resorts in Thailand is imminent, and if they hit the market, experts predict a GDP boost of up to 0.7% once the projects are finished. Melco Resorts has announced plans for an office in Bangkok, indicating their commitment to the Thai market.

Thailand's ambition to overtake Japan in the tourism sector, coupled with the government's search for additional revenue streams, is driving the rapid progress of the integrated resorts legislation. The international operators mentioned are pursuing international growth opportunities and see Thailand as a promising market for expansion.
