Site of the Criminal Act: Paderborn 2025

Explore the heart of Paderborn in a unique and engaging way with the Tatort Paderborn 2025 bike tour. This event, part of the larger site-specific exhibition series, returns to the city from August 9 to September 8, 2025.

The bike tour is a guided journey that takes you through the exhibition, Tatort Paderborn 2025 - The River is Me. Led by experienced art mediators, the tour offers insights into the works and backgrounds of the art, providing a tangible connection to Paderborn’s environment through contemporary art.

The tour starts at the Paderborn City Museum, where bike rental is available, although participants are encouraged to bring their own. The route follows the Pader river, offering a linear, almost chronological experience, starting approximately 50 meters underground near the river’s source and continuing along the riverbanks.

The exhibition features 10 installations by local and international artists, each considering ecological, social, historical, and cultural dimensions. The artworks treat the river not just as a natural feature but as a “creative partner” and integral part of urban life.

The bike tour is just one of several ways to engage with the art. Guided walks and talks, as well as workshops, aim to deepen public understanding and involvement with the city’s landscape and the river’s rich biological diversity.

The theme of the exhibition questions how the river could be perceived as an “equal citizen” within the urban environment, encouraging reflection on the relationship between nature and city life. The exhibition is curated by Marijke Lukowicz and Sophia Trollmann.

The bike tour is suitable for up to 15 participants, and each tour lasts approximately 2 hours. The cost for participating in the bike tour is 8 €, with a reduced rate of 7 €.

Join us for this creative journey through Paderborn’s public spaces, and experience the city like never before. The bike tour takes place on specific dates throughout the event, including August 9, 11, 16, 18, 23, 25, 30, September 1, 6, and 8, 2025. Don't miss out on this opportunity to immerse yourself in the artistic wonders of Paderborn!

Engage with the art beyond the bike tour by participating in guided walks, talks, and workshops that delve deeper into Paderborn's landscape and the river's rich diversity. Share your experience and thoughts about the exhibition on social-media, using the hashtag #TatortPaderborn2025, for an entertaining and interactive discussion about the relationship between nature and city life.
