Siril Gan intends to engage in a conflict with Sergei Pavlovich
In the world of UFC, two heavyweight contenders, Ciryl "Bon Gamin" Gane and Sergey Pavlovich, are making waves.
Currently leading the UFC division rankings, Frenchman Ciryl Gane, with a record of 11-2, is planning a comeback in September. His coach, Fernand Lopez, has confirmed the plans for a highly-anticipated return.
Gane's last bout was against Jon Jones in March 2023, where he faced harsh criticism for his performance. Jones, making his UFC heavyweight division debut, defeated Gane via guillotine choke in the opening round. Gane admitted that he "choked" in the fight, a rare confession from a professional athlete.
Gane has expressed interest in facing Russian Sergey Pavlovich, who ranks second in the current UFC heavyweight standings. Pavlovich, with a record of 18-1 and a 6-fight streak of early victories (KO/TKO), is on a roll. He recently finished Curtis Blaydes, the former heavyweight UFC title contender, in the main event of UFC Fight Night 222 in April 2023. The victory earned Pavlovich the top contender status for the title shot against the winner of the Jon Jones - Stipe Miocic championship bout.
The Jon Jones - Stipe Miocic championship bout will determine the new UFC heavyweight champion, scheduled for a November event in New York. Meanwhile, Pavlovich is not facing Gane in September. Instead, he fought Tom Aspinall at UFC 295 in November 2023, where Aspinall won the interim heavyweight title by knocking out Pavlovich. Aspinall is now scheduled to fight Gane for the undisputed UFC heavyweight championship at UFC 321 on October 25, 2025, in Abu Dhabi.
The proposed fight between Gane and Pavlovich is yet to be officially confirmed by the UFC. If it does materialise, it promises to be a thrilling clash between two of the best heavyweights in the UFC.
