"We were willing to go to any lengths for our little miracle, and now we vow to defend it with everything that's holy to us," the couple confides. Their struggle with infertility spanned five grueling years. Sharing their struggles was practically unavoidable once they reached a breaking point in their journey. "It became increasingly difficult to conceal the setbacks we were experiencing on social media," Tim reflects. "That's why we decided to share our story. It was also beneficial to release some of the burdens stashed upon our shoulders," Ana adds. "We sought to eradicate the stigma surrounding infertility issues." The outpouring of support was "exceptionally positive." "Not a single harsh message crossed my path," the 31-year-old claims.
First Steps into the World
Little Maui took his first steps, a feat captured in a charming Instagram video. "I can still remember the bewildered expressions on our faces when we watched him take his maiden steps," Ana muses. Within a week, the boy was nearly walking, as reported by his proud father. There are also videos documenting his debut steps. "I'll need to dig them up, but they were stable, I can say that," Tim chuckles. The couple couldn't help but reminisce about those smallest of shoes.
Adapting to the ever-evolving stages of parenthood has its own set of challenges. "It's somewhat scary to realize that our little baby is already nearing his second birthday. Time seems to move so fast. Just yesterday he was still a limp little squirt, and now he's sprinting around, clad in rompers, completely ready to explore the world. Every day brings something new," Ana expresses.
Ready for Round Two
This year, the trio plans to embark on a grand adventure to the Hawaiian islands. "Hawaii holds a special place in our hearts. We appreciate that everyone has a secret sanctuary somewhere on Earth that resonates with them. And for us, Hawaii is that place," Ana waxes lyrical about the ethereal Pacific islands, which also lent their namesake to their son. "You could say Hawaii is a land of rainbows. And Maui is, in a sense, a rainbow baby," Ana explains. "Rainbow babies are those born following a miscarriage."
More playmates are on the horizon for little Maui. "I'd say that Maui is ready for a little playmate," Tim posits. They understand that the road to parenthood may be as rocky the second time around. "But we're prepared to face that struggle once more," Ana asserts.
