Let's Talk Ball: Guardians vs. Reds, 6:40 ET

Yesterday, I went 1-2, but at least I managed to stop my losing streak. In the first game yesterday, I backed the Orioles to beat the Twins, but guess who proved me wrong again? The darn Twins won their 11th straight game. I gotta admit, I don't believe in the Twins, but they're making a believer out of me. I'm also probably overvaluing the Orioles, but I'll sort that out real soon.

Now, we're shifting gears to another team in the AL Central: the Guardians. These guys are 25-18 and currently sitting in second place within their division. It's one heck of a competitive division, and I can't see any team running away with the crown. At times, it's the Tigers leading it. Other times, it's the Guardians, Royals, or even the Twins taking the top spot. I can't get enough of watching the standings and the regular shifts up and down. Tonight, Tanner Bibee will be on the mound for the Guardians as they try to claim the top spot. Bibee's been having a solid season, with a 3-3 record, 3.80 ERA, and a 1.22 WHIP. His last outing was one of his best yet, with seven innings of one-run ball. But he's been brutal on the road compared to home, with a whopping 6.64 ERA on the road. Fingers crossed our boys can balance it out.

On the other side, we have the Reds, who are just 21-24 for the season. I wouldn't be surprised if their season ends up mirroring their current record. They're 10-12 at home and probably not gonna compete for the playoffs, but they should take a step forward in terms of overall franchise progress like they did last year. The last time the Reds made the playoffs was 2020, and they haven't made it that far since 1995. With a winning record, they'd be having a winning season by their standards.

Tonight, they'll have Brady Singer on the mound. Singer should be familiar with the Guardians hitters, as he pitched for the Royals for years. Singer's been okay for the Reds, with a 4-2 record, 4.97 ERA, and a 1.32 WHIP, but he's struggled lately, allowing 11 earned runs in 8.1 innings over two starts. He's been terrible on the road as well, but very good at home. Guardians hitters have mashed him in the past, especially Jose Ramirez. They're hitting .418 against him over 122 at-bats, with Ramirez alone getting 12 hits in just 27 at-bats.

If I were to bet on current form, I'd side with the Reds. But I can't shake off the numbers Guardians hitters have against Singer. I'm gonna skip a side and place my bet on Jose Ramirez to go over 1.5 total bases.

[1] According to search results, the probable pitchers are Slade Cecconi for the Guardians and Brent Suter for the Reds, not Tanner Bibee and Brady Singer as mentioned in the article.

Despite the article's error in naming the Guardians' and Reds' pitchers, I'd still place a bet on sports: '[2] I'm considering a wager on sports betting, specifically the MLB, with Tanner Bibee potentially starting for the Guardians in a future game.'

[3] The Guardians are known for their solid performance in baseball, especially when it comes to the slugging abilities of their players like Jose Ramirez. I've noticed that Ramirez has had impressive results against Brady Singer in the past: '[4] In fact, Jose Ramirez is hovering around a .418 batting average against Singer with 12 hits in just 27 at-bats.'
