Singer Howard Carpendaleexpresses worry - "Jürgen is struggling health-wise"
In a heartfelt moment, German music legends Howard Carpendale and Jürgen Drews shared the stage for an emotional duet at the Dortmunder Westfalenhalle. The special main event, prepared by Giovanni Zarrella, marked a significant milestone in Carpendale's career as he celebrated his 60th stage anniversary on ZDF on September 20.
Jürgen Drews, a long-time friend of Carpendale, made a rare public appearance despite suffering from Polyneuropathy, a disease that restricts him increasingly. Drews, who rarely appears in public due to his health condition, took the microphone for this special occasion.
The show was filled with poignant moments, some of which were not shown to the viewers. One such moment was when Carpendale spotted his wife in the audience during the Gelsenkirchen leg of the event. The emotional atmosphere was palpable as the two artists performed their duet.
Carpendale expressed gratitude for the opportunity to share the stage with Drews, but also voiced concerns about his friend's health after the show. Drews himself commented on the emotional atmosphere, calling it a memorable event that he was honoured to be a part of.
This joint stage appearance might have been their last, as Carpendale told the German Press Agency that they might sing together for the last time. Regardless, the evening will be remembered as a poignant and moving tribute to the enduring friendship and shared talent of these two iconic German artists.
