Singer Gregorio Moya seizing four accolades at the Cante de Las Minas Festival

In Ciudad Real, a local artist clinched 'The Mining Lamp' award. Dancing sensation Salomé Ramírez and pianist José Carlos Esteban-Hanza were honored with the flamenco dance and instrumental accolades respectively.

Winners Announced at the 64th International Festival of Cante de las Minas

The 64th edition of the International Festival of Cante de las Minas, held in La Unión, Murcia from July 30 to August 9, 2025, concluded with a grand announcement of winners in various flamenco categories.

Lampara Minera (Best Flamenco Singer)

Gregorio Moya Lara, a Manchego singer from Argamasilla de Alba (Ciudad Real), was crowned the winner of the Lampara Minera, the prestigious top prize for singing at the festival. His performance was unanimously applauded by the audience.

Filón Trophy (Best Flamenco Instrumentalist)

The Filón Trophy and a cash prize of €6,000 were awarded to 20-year-old pianist José Carlos Esteban-Hanza Fernández from Almería. His performance, accompanied by family members, was highly praised for his skill and stage presence.

Second Prize for Flamenco Instrumentalist

The second prize for flamenco instrumentalists, worth €2,000, was given to flutist Ostalinda Suárez from Extremadura for her performance of taranta cartagenera and flautasía flamenca.

Castillete de Oro

The Castillete de Oro was awarded to guitarists Yerai Cortés and Pepe Habichuela, and to singer-producer Pepe de Lucía for their contributions to the dissemination of flamenco.

Other Winners

  • The dance category's first prize, the 'Desplante', went to Salomé Ramírez Almagro from Jerez for her taranto and soleá, worth €6,000.
  • Francisco Heredia, from Jaén, won the tarantas prize, also worth €3,000.
  • The second dance prize went to José María Viñas from Cadiz, worth €2,000.
  • Paco Cortés, the guitarist who accompanied Gregorio Moya, received the Special Jury Prize for the best accompanist, worth €1,000.
  • Gregorio Moya also won three additional prizes: the first prize for miners' songs (€6,000), Group A prize for malagueñas (€3,000), prize for cartageneras (€3,000), and Group C prize for marianas (€2,000).
  • The new 'Mariano Conde' guitar prize went to Samuel del Río Carmona, 'Samuel de Encarni', from Cádiz.
  • José Plantón Heredia, 'José del Calli', from Córdoba, won the murciana singing prize, worth €3,000.
  • The only finalist in the 'Miner's Bordón' category was Barcelona guitarist Toni Abellán Sánchez, who took home the second prize, worth €2,000.
  • Moisés Santiago was the percussionist for José Carlos Esteban-Hanza Fernández's performance.
  • Cristóbal Santiago and Antonio Torres 'Pescaito' provided vocals for José Carlos Esteban-Hanza Fernández's performance.

Gala Performances

The festival also featured galas showcasing past winners, notable guitarists, dancers, and singers, such as Antonio Rey, Sara Baras, Mayte Martín, Jesús Carmona, and the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía. The festival ended with performances by Miguel Ángel Solano, María Belén Alamillos, and María Elena Corví.

The International Festival of Cante de las Minas, recognised by UNESCO, holds significant cultural and economic importance for La Unión, Murcia.

People from various regions across Spain, such as Manchego, Almería, Extremadura, Cádiz, Jaén, and Córdoba, were awarded prizes for their exceptional flamcco singing, instrumental performances, and dance routines at the International Festival of Cante de las Minas. The festival also showcased entertainment through gala performances featuring well-known artists like Antonio Rey, Sara Baras, and Jesús Carmona.
