French Singer Camélia Jordana Calls for Boycotts at Reims Polar Festival

Camélia Jordana, a renowned French singer, made headlines in France and beyond during her performance at the Reims Polar festival on April 4, 2025. According to a report by news website Al Bawaba, Jordana used her platform to express her pro-Palestine stance and call for boycotts of certain corporations.

Jordana called for a boycott of the American sportswear brand, Nike, due to its alleged involvement in supporting the Uyghurs' violations of rights in China. She also expressed her solidarity with Palestine by boycotting Coca-Cola since October 7, 2023, and has continued this boycott with her latest call to action against Nike.

Jordana's boycott is in line with the BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) movement, which encourages boycotting corporations that are perceived to be supporting Israel's aggression on Palestine. The BDS movement's official website lists both Coca-Cola and McDonald's as corporations to boycott due to their alleged involvement in aiding Israel's aggression on Gaza.

The ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza has resulted in the killing of more than 51,100 Palestinians and the injuring of at least 116,000, according to the health ministry in the Strip, as reported by Al Bawaba.

Jordana's pro-Palestine stance extends beyond her boycott actions. She has also participated in the organization "Film Workers for Palestine," which calls for a boycott of Israeli film institutions to oppose support for Israel's aggression against Gaza. This initiative involves over 8,000 filmmakers and cinema workers advocating for an end to genocide and for a free Palestine.

Jordana's actions at the Reims Polar festival have sparked conversation and debate, with her pro-Palestine stance making local headlines in France. The festival, held annually in Reims, France, has seen numerous performances from notable artists, but Jordana's statements and calls to action have undoubtedly made this year's event memorable.
