Simferopol Sets a 40-Year Record for Rainfall Levels
In the city of Simferopol, Crimea, a significant weather event has taken place. The city has updated its daily record for September rainfall, a feat not achieved in 40 years.
On September 5, 1985, a remarkable 44.3 millimeters (mm) of rain was recorded, a figure that stood unchallenged for four decades. However, this year, Simferopol has outdone itself.
Mikhail Leus, a leading meteorologist at the "Fobos" weather center, announced the new record in his Telegram channel. Overnight, the city experienced a downpour, with 10 mm of rain falling. By the end of the day, an additional 53 mm had poured down, bringing the total rainfall to a staggering 63 mm.
This rainfall is 175% of the monthly norm, equating to 63 liters of rainwater per square meter of city territory. The meteorologist responsible for this significant weather update is Maxim Zolotukhin.
This weather event serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of weather patterns and the importance of accurate meteorological forecasting. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
