Significant traffic disruption on motorways 1 (Dötlingen) and 28 (Steuding) due to accidents, resulting in minor injuries.
On Saturday, September 13, 2025, two traffic accidents occurred on the A1 and A28 highways, causing disruptions and temporary closures.
The first accident took place at 9:45 AM on the A1 near the Wildeshausen-Nord on-ramp. A 38-year-old man from Poland and a 79-year-old man from Sweden were involved in the collision. The older man's car spun across the passing lane and came to a stop against the median barrier, while the younger man's car veered off the road to the left and collided with the barrier, being thrown over it. Both cars were no longer roadworthy and had to be towed away, with an estimated damage of around 11,000 euros for the older man's car and 2,000 euros for the younger man's car.
The passenger in the 79-year-old's car, his wife, sustained minor injuries. She was treated at the scene by an ambulance crew and taken to the hospital for further treatment. The 79-year-old driver was also taken to a clinic for further examination.
The ramp onto the A28 had to be temporarily closed for rescue operations, and the main and passing lanes had to be closed for the accident investigation and towing operations, with traffic diverted via the hard shoulder. No other parties were involved in this accident.
Another accident occurred on the A28 at 11:35 AM, involving a motorcyclist who slipped on a wet road and sustained minor injuries due to excessive speed. The motorcyclist's identity is not yet known.
