In the picturesque town of Nagold, the Nagoldfreibad Support Association hosted a special Schnürles tournament, the 'Freibad-Schnürles-Cup 2024', before the bath underwent its much-anticipated renovation. The event, hailed as a success by tournament organisers Simone Rothfuß and Jörg Müller, marked a significant moment in the history of Schnürles football tennis, a unique sport that combines elements of football and tennis.

The Nagoldfreibad, opened in 1938, has been the cradle of Freibad-Schnürles, and this year's tournament was no exception. Six teams competed, with the 'Nagoldfreibad Oldies' emerging victorious against 'Die Fettsäcke'. The event was graced by the presence of Dieter "Dietsche" Weisert, a Schnürles legend who introduced binding rules in the early 1970s. At over 90 years old, Weisert's attendance was a testament to the enduring appeal of the sport.

Schnürles, developed by Fritz Schnürle in the 1930s, has remained popular among bathers at Pforzheim's public baths across generations. Weisert, acknowledged as a pioneer and promoter, played a crucial role in formalizing the rules and promoting the sport at a grassroots level, contributing to its establishment as a distinct recreational and competitive sport.

Through organising matches, tournaments, and perhaps clubs, Weisert helped embed Schnürles football tennis into local sports culture, especially where traditional football and tennis interest intersected. His efforts have left a lasting legacy, with the binding rules he introduced still used in Schnürles today.

The 'Schnürles premiere' in the new bath after the renovation of the Nagoldfreibad is eagerly awaited. Meanwhile, Jörg Müller, the 1st chairman of the support association, presented Weisert with a certificate of honor for his contributions to the 'Schnürles' game. All participants in the 'Freibad-Schnürles-Cup 2024' received prizes sponsored by Rutronik and the Nagoldfreibad Support Association, adding to the festive atmosphere of the event.

For those seeking more detailed historical or biographical data about Dieter "Dietsche" Weisert, local sports archives or dedicated Schnürles football tennis organisations in Germany might hold specialized records or testimonials about his contributions. The legacy of this Schnürles pioneer continues to resonate, fostering a unique and engaging sport enjoyed by enthusiasts.
