Sia Files for Divorce, Custody Battle Erupts Over Son and Millions

Singer-songwriter Sia Furler, known for hits like 'Chandelier' and 'Titanium', has filed for divorce from her husband of nearly a decade, Daniel Bernad. The couple, who adopted two 18-year-old boys in 2019, is now embroiled in a high-stakes custody battle and financial dispute.

Bernad, a former radiation oncologist, claims he gave up his medical career to support Sia's music career and raise their adopted sons. He is now seeking $250,856 per month in spousal support, stating he is unemployed and financially dependent on Sia. Sia, however, has requested full custody of their son, Somersault, with visitation rights for Bernad.

The couple, who lived a lavish lifestyle with a staff of 10-12 and frequent private jet travel, set up a ketamine treatment clinic together in 2022. However, Sia withdrew funding after their marriage broke down. Bernad is now seeking $300,000 in legal fees and $200,000 for forensic accounting, claiming he has 'no source of income'.

Sia, who was previously married to Erik Anders Lang from 2014 to 2017, filed for divorce from Bernad in March 2023, citing 'irreconcilable differences'. Before their marriage, Sia was already a mother and a grandmother.

The divorce and custody battle between Sia and Daniel Bernad is ongoing. The couple's luxurious lifestyle and significant assets are at the center of the financial dispute. Sia's request for full custody of their son, Somersault, and Bernad's demand for substantial spousal support highlight the complex nature of their separation.
