In her podcast titled "Let's Be Clear," actress Shannen Doherty opens up about her life like never before. From navigating the film industry as a woman to dealing with heartbreaks and illnesses, she leaves no stone unturned.
Just when Doherty, now 52, was gearing up for a brain tumor surgery in January, she learnt about her husband's betrayal. Kurt Iswarienko, her husband of 14 years, had been unfaithful for two years.
"I went into the surgery early in the morning after I found out that my marriage was essentially crumbling. My husband had been having an affair," Doherty shared in her podcast.
The divorce between Shannen and Kurt, who married in 2011, was announced in April with an unspecified reason. But Doherty revealed the heartbreak that led to their separation: "At the end of the day, I just felt so incredibly unloved by someone I was with for 14 years, someone I loved with all my heart. I felt so betrayed."
During her surgery, Doherty chose to surround herself with her mother Rosa, brother Sean, and best friends instead of her husband. "To be honest, it's still hard now," she admitted.
Inspite of the heartbreak, Doherty remains hopeful. "I still believe in love," she said.
Doherty, who became a household name in the US as Brenda Walsh in 'Beverly Hills 90210,' has always been open about her health issues. In 2015, she battled breast cancer successfully. But the cancer returned with a vengeance a few years later.
Fighting cancer was tough, but she managed with the love and support of her friends, fans, and family. She also found solace in text-to-speech technology, using it to write parts of her book while undergoing treatment.
Although her marriage didn't work out, Doherty continues to inspire people with her courage and resilience. She encourages others to be hopeful and fight against their battles with the same determination she displays every day.
