Short Series Boom in Russia: ReelShort, ShortTV Surge in Users and Viewing Time
Short series platforms have seen a significant surge in popularity in Russia this year. ReelShort, the international leader in micro-dramas, has witnessed a 73% increase in users. Meanwhile, ShortTV, the most popular service, has grown tenfold since the beginning of the year.
The growth can be attributed to various factors. Men, making up 63% of the audience, have shown more interest in these platforms than women. Age also plays a significant role. Users aged 26-45 account for 53% of viewers and 59% of total viewing time. Younger users, aged 14-25, are split between ShortTV and DramaBox.
ReelShort stands out by offering a Russian interface and subtitles for certain series. However, MoboReels, despite having a Russian interface, requires dramas to be watched in the original language. The average viewing time has also increased by 2.3 times since early 2025.
The increase in users and viewing time indicates a strong appetite for short series in Russia. ReelShort's unique offerings and ShortTV's popularity have driven this growth. As the market continues to evolve, providers are adapting to cater to diverse audiences.
