Shooting in progress for Stephen Korytko's debut film 'Dead Dad Girl', produced by Samsa Film, known for 'Corsage'
In the heart of Luxembourg, the cameras are rolling for the debut feature film of director Stephen Korytko, the dark comedy "Dead Dad Girl." This unique production is a Luxembourg-Belgium coproduction, brought to life by a talented team of producers including Bernard Michaux of Samsa Film, John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky, and Benoît Roland for Wrong Men.
The film's script was penned by comedian Alexia Verbeke, and it tells the story of a 17-year-old sharp-tongued misfit with a complicated family background. The protagonist, played by Mabel Thomas, finds herself in a precarious situation when she hides her drug dealer dad's body in a chest freezer after his untimely demise.
Joining Mabel Thomas in the cast are Luc Schiltz, Sophie Mousel, and Louise Balthazar. Korytko, known for his background in directing commercials, is at the helm of this intriguing narrative, promising a fresh perspective in the world of filmmaking.
The production of "Dead Dad Girl" is also backed by the Belgian Tax Shelter scheme, ensuring a solid foundation for this exciting project. Filming is taking place in Luxembourg from July to August 25.
John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky, known for their work on the critically acclaimed series Silicon Valley, have expressed their joy and gratitude for their involvement in "Dead Dad Girl," stating that it has been one of the most rewarding creative collaborations of their career.
Meanwhile, in a separate production, Selma Sunniva's 'Girl Beast' is currently in production with a top Danish cast including Trine Dyrholm.
As the production of "Dead Dad Girl" continues, the first look image of the film has been unveiled, offering a glimpse into this captivating world. Korytkos' 2023 short film, "The Golden Record," premiered at Tallinn in the same year, further demonstrating his promise as a rising talent in the industry.
