A Rising Star for Bayern: Who the Hell is Lennart Karl?
- Hey there!*
Emerging Talent from Bavaria: Introducing Lennart Karl - Shining Brightly in Bavaria: Emerging Talent Rises
Lennart Karl didn't bag a goal during his debut with the FC Bayern heavyweights, a squad boasting big-time scorers like Jamal Musiala, Thomas Müller, Michael Olise, Kingsley Coman, and others, in their relaxing 10:0 win against Auckland City in the initial Club World Cup match. So what gives?!
Despite not scoring, Karl stole the show in Cincinnati, catching the eye of coach Vincent Kompany: "Good for him, good for Bayern."
"Good for him, good for Bayern"
A bunch of youngsters from the Bayern campus joined Kompany in the US. And U17 national player Karl is the most fascinating among them. The lad from Markt Frammersbach, Lower Franconia, is a regular goal-scarer and assist-provider for Bayern's U17 and U19 teams with his left foot.
Against Auckland, he dazzled the crowd with a bold dribble or a cheeky shot from a tight angle. With a 6:0 lead at half-time, Kompany seized the opportunity to give Karl his international stage bow.
Kompany praises, Tah dishes advice
"It's all about the future of the club. It was crucial to give Lennart Karl his first minutes. He deserved it. His strength lies in his high-quality play in the final third of the field. I didn't feel like the squad was losing any attacking prowess," Kompany applauded.
Karl can play offensively on the right, left, and center. And he's adamant about "definitely making it here at FC Bayern," as he recently expressed in a club interview. Bayern newcomer Jonathan Tah offered some valuable advice: "He's great one-on-one. It's important that he doesn't slack off and keeps pushing."
Karl's representative is former Bayern player Michael Ballack, who was a TV pundit for the streaming service DAZN during the Auckland match. Interestingly enough, Musiala, who scored a hat-trick in his comeback from a muscle injury against Auckland's amateurs, was also only 17 when he began with the Munich pros. And then, well, he skyrocketed.
