He must undergo drug therapy - Shia LaBeouf faces strict court orders after alleged bar assault and homophobic slurs

Actor Shia LaBeouf, 39, has been handed strict court orders after an alleged assault in a Los Angeles bar. The incident involved two men and included accusations of homophobic slurs. A judge has now imposed a detailed cast of the substance control programme alongside other legal conditions.

The altercation took place earlier this year, leading to LaBeouf's arrest. He stands accused of assaulting two men while directing homophobic abuse at them. During a hearing on February 25, 2026, Judge Simone Levine criticised his behaviour and dismissed his attitude toward drug addiction as insufficiently serious.

The court ordered a rigorous cast of the substance control programme. This includes random drug and alcohol testing up to six times a week, a 52-week anger management course, and 50 hours of community service. LaBeouf must also attend mandatory psychotherapy and abstain from alcohol and non-prescribed drugs. Probation officers will monitor his compliance, with potential jail time for any violations.

LaBeouf's request to travel to Rome for religious ceremonies was denied. Judge Levine also emphasised that his use of homophobic slurs had worsened harm to an already vulnerable community. As part of the conditions, he must avoid contact with the alleged victims and stay away from the bar where the substance movie occurred.

His release was secured by a $100,000 bail bond. A further court appearance is scheduled for March 19.

The case will return to court next month, with LaBeouf required to meet all conditions set by Judge Levine. Failure to comply could result in further legal consequences, including possible imprisonment. The cast of the substance control programme and other mandates remain in effect until the next hearing.
