Sheridan County Commission endorses Paintball competition event
The Sheridan County Commission has given the green light to an outdoor commercial recreational paintball facility and first-responder training platform, located at 805 State Highway 338 (Decker Road). The facility will occupy approximately the eastern 1/3 of an 85+ acre property.
The Conditional Use Permit (CUP) approved by the Commission comes with specific conditions to ensure the facility operates in compliance with county regulations. These conditions include the use of fully-shielded cut-off lighting fixtures for all exterior lighting to minimise light pollution and avoid glare, and the regular removal or enclosure of waste materials to maintain cleanliness and environmental safety around the facility.
In addition, Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT)-specified improvements for highway access or signage are required. Any future structure modifications or additions will necessitate county building permits.
The proposed permit also includes a first-responder training platform, making it a multi-purpose facility. It is worth noting that a new CUP may be necessary for certain future structure modifications or additions.
The Commission's decision follows a consideration of the CUP, with the approved permit including four conditions as recommended by the Planning and Zoning Commission. The Commission's approval is a significant step forward for the paintball facility, which will contribute to the county's recreational offerings while also providing a valuable training platform for first responders.
