Shedeur Sanders, Brown University football player, declares his intent to not purchase his teammate's jersey number, attributing the decision to financial troubles resulting from signing bonuses.
Shedeur Sanders, that promising young buck drafted by the Browns last round, got himself mic'ed up with the media at the team's rookie camp. He dodged talking about the old man in the White House Trumping his draft slide, instead focusing on the upcoming battle for the starting QB gig and his dang jersey number.
Chillaxing at a presser, ol' Sheduer dropped the deets on wearing No. 12 for the team, snubbing his college number 2, ...or at least there was some speculation about that.
"My signing bonus ain't that high right now," the kid quipped.
He did land a fair share of name, image, and likeness deals during his uni days, so it's cool.
Sanders was hyped to go as early as No. 2 overall before the infamous draft slide, eventually landing in the Browns' hands in the fifth round.
The lil' whippersnapper flung out 4,134 passing yards in his last college season, making room for him in a competitive Browns' QB room. We got Deshaun Watson, Joe Flacco, Dillon Gabriel, and the ol' Pickettster thrown in there, too.
During a minicamp practice, the rookie and Gabriel shared connies. Browns coach Kevin Stefanski gave them both a nod, stating it was neat to witness their meeting room skills translate onto the grass.
With ol' Watson likely sidelined due to injury for a chunk of the 2025 season, the young guns have got themselves quite a chance to make their mark. Here's to hoping Sanders can step right up and take charge!
