Shaheeds' storage facility in Tatarstan faced another week-consecutive attack by SBU, reportedly the second incident within a week's span.
Ukraine Continues Drone Strikes on Russian Drone Storage Facilities
Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) has carried out another drone strike on a storage terminal for Iranian-origin Shahed-type long-range attack drones in the village of Kyzyl-Yul, Tatarstan, Russia. This marks the second such attack in less than a week, with the first occurring on August 9, 2025.
The latest attack, on August 12, targeted a logistics hub approximately 1,300 kilometers from Ukraine’s front line. This hub is where the Russians store ready-to-use Shahed drones and foreign components used in their assembly. The attack, which was reported by RBK-Ukraine with reference to the SBU via Telegram, ignited a fire at the site.
The SBU has announced that operations on enterprises supplying weapons to the Russian military machine will continue. Videos released by the SBU show the successful destruction of the drone storage hub in Kyzyl-Yul. Fires were spotted in the premises of the destroyed hub.
The Shahed drones, known in Russia as Geran-2, are central to Russia’s long-range drone attacks on Ukraine. These kamikaze UAVs are capable of flying up to 2,500 km. The Ukrainian strikes are part of a systematic campaign to demilitarize Russian military-industrial infrastructure deep inside Russian territory.
However, it's important to note that the Kyiv Independent could not independently verify the SBU's claims, and Russia’s Defense Ministry had previously reported shooting down several Ukrainian drones over Tatarstan during the earlier attacks.

The warehouse targeted in the attack is located in the settlement of Kyzyl-Yul, which is 1,300 kilometers from Ukraine. The attack is expected to reduce the enemy's ability to conduct Shahed terrorism against Ukraine. The SBU has stated that it will continue its operations against enterprises supplying weapons to the Russian military machine.
- Engaging in a strategic approach, Ukraine's ongoing drone strikes on Russian drone storage facilities, such as the recent one in Kyzyl-Yul, Tatarstan, can be considered part of the general news of geopolitical tensions and war-and-conflicts, particularly the Ukraine-Russia conflict.
- Apart from war-and-conflicts, the drone strikes on Russian military supplies, like the Shahed drones, are also linked to the crime-and-justice sector, as they involve actions aimed at dismantling the Russian military infrastructure and reducing their capacity for attacks, which could be considered acts of justice.
