Shah Rukh Khan Wins Inaugural Best Actor Prize for Jawan at a National Film Competition
The 71st National Film Awards were announced in New Delhi, with a jury headed by Ashutosh Gowariker. This year's awards celebrated a variety of talent and films across languages and genres, marking the first-ever National Film Awards for Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji 14.
Acting Awards
The major acting awards went to Shah Rukh Khan and Vikrant Massey, who shared the Best Actor award for their powerful performances in Jawan and 12th Fail respectively 13. Rani Mukerji won the Best Actress award for her performance in Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway.
In the supporting categories, Urvashi won Best Supporting Actress for her role in Malayalam film Ullozhukku, while Janki Bodiwala was awarded for Best Supporting Actress for Gujarati film Vash. Vijayaraghavan won Best Supporting Actor for Malayalam film Pookkaalam, and Muthupettai Somu Bhaskar won the same award for Tamil film Parking 1.

The Best Feature Film award was given to 12th Fail, with Sudipto Sen being recognized as Best Director for The Kerala Story1. Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani was named Best Feature Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment, and Sam Bahadur was adjudged Best Film Promoting National, Social, and Environmental Values 1.
Other notable awards included Kasarla Shyam receiving the award for Best Lyrics for the Telugu film Balagam ("Ooru Palleturu") and Vaibhavi Merchant receiving the award for Best Choreography for the song Dhindhora Baje Re in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani 1.
