SRK strutted the blue carpet of the Met Gala 2025, making a grand entrance as the highest-profile Indian ever at this annual fashion soiree. But why'd he break his 'no red carpet' rule this time? In an interview with the New York Times, SRK spilled the beans, explaining his decision was rooted in challenging stereotypes about Asian actors in the West.

Shah Rukh Khan's Met Gala Debut

Draped in black, SRK took center stage on the Met blue carpet, exuding elegance in a floor-length coat, layers of jewelry, and a bejeweled walking stick. So, what inspired this sartorial change-up? Khan was eager to dismantle those pesky stereotypes that persist in the West, describing actors of Asian descent as exotics – think Peter Sellers' 'Birdie Num Num' type.

Designer extraordinaire Sabyasachi Mukherjee came up with the outfit, featuring a Tasmanian superfine wool coat, monogrammed Japanese horn buttons, a crepe de chine silk shirt, tailored superfine wool trousers, and a pleated satin kamarbandh. The look was complete with a Bengal Tiger Head Cane crafted from 18k gold, adorned with tourmalines, sapphires, old mine cut, and brilliant cut diamonds.

Known for his jeans-and-t-shirt style, SRK had one simple instruction for Sabyasachi: no shoulder pads that make him appear like an airplane.
