Seville's Holy Week 2026: Journalist José Antonio Rodríguez to Deliver Palm Sunday Sermon

Seville's Holy Week in 2026 will be marked by a familiar face. Journalist José Antonio Rodríguez, a brother of the Esperanza de Triana brotherhood, has been chosen to deliver the sermon from the pulpit of the Teatro de la Maestranza on Palm Sunday.

Rodríguez, a graduate in Journalism, brings a wealth of experience to the role. He has worked for various television stations and magazines in Seville, and has also directed audiovisuals and acted in films related to Holy Week. This is not his first time delivering a sermon or pregón in Seville. In 2007, he was appointed pregonero of the Glorias of Seville by the Council of Confraternities. He has previously delivered the Pregón de la Juventud de Triana and the Pregón de la Esperanza de Triana.

His appointment is a testament to his deep understanding and passion for Seville's Holy Week traditions. Rodríguez's connection to the Esperanza de Triana brotherhood, of which he is an active member, further adds to the significance of his selection.

On Palm Sunday, March 22, 2026, José Antonio Rodríguez will exalt the Sevillian brotherhoods and confraternities from the Teatro de la Maestranza. His sermon promises to be a heartfelt and insightful reflection on the spirit and significance of Holy Week in Seville.
