Severe weather incidents resulting in various mishaps

Yesterday afternoon, a critical incident occurred in the heart of Spandau, Berlin. A 55-year-old woman was seriously injured when a tree was uprooted by strong winds and fell onto her moving car on Straße An der Kappe.

The incident, identified as Incident 1719, occurred around 5 PM, and the woman was found lying on the sidewalk between houses. The police arrived to find firefighters already attending to the woman, and she was taken to a hospital in a critical condition and underwent emergency surgery.

Unfortunately, the woman succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The Berlin Fire Department removed the tree and cleared the path, causing a closure on the Clayallee southbound from Köning-Luise-Straße from 5:40 PM to 6:20 PM. This affected BVG bus lines 115, X83, and X10.

Incident 1718, which occurred earlier in the day at around 5:30 PM in Dahlem, involved a 30-year-old woman who was struck by a branch due to the weather on the Clayallee pedestrian and cycle path.

It's worth noting that, according to the current information accessible, there were no significant weather-related emergencies or incidents in Spandau/Berlin on August 9, 2025. However, a health advisory was issued on August 6, warning against swimming in Spandau Lake due to fecal contamination associated with warm weather.

Our thoughts are with the families and friends of the victims during this difficult time. The police are investigating the incidents further, and we will provide updates as more information becomes available.
