Get ready for a long run of bad air!
Officials at the Ob-Irtysh Power Station in Omsk declared a heads-up on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, for some not-so-friendly weather conditions that will keep pollutants hanging around in Omsk and the surrounding region. They expect the bad weather to stick around until the next morning.
"From 8:01 PM on April 1, 2025, until 4:02 AM on April 2, 2025, we anticipate meteorological conditions that aren't great for dispersing pollutants in Omsk and the region, and we're calling it a Level 1 risk period for the Negative Mode of the Atmosphere (NMU)," according to a statement from meteorologists.
Folks in town may notice some unpleasant odors during this "black sky" event. The air might get especially polluted in the morning on April 2, but it's expected to clean up by midday.
